Dad's doing better

Hey everyone,
The update is quite miraculous actually... dad is not only still alive but he is doing really well.

On Thursday, we were not given a lot of hope in dad's surviving the day. He was rushed to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, in the ICU department. They did a surgical procedure through an artery in his leg to get to the ulcer in his lower intestine. If it did not work they were going to have to go in through the stomach and that was where the danger laid.

My uncle rushed in from Washington, and the rest of the family was put on notice. We had not one clue as to what would happen- but we all had to face the worst in our own imaginations and even in our prayers.

It was really rough to see him in ICU, because they had to put a tube down his throat to empty his stomach so that the bile would not agitate the ulcer. They had to restrain his legs, his arms, they had a catheter in his leg- for the procedure- just in case they had to do it again. Then they had the other catheter in, and a whole bunch of other stuff going on- making it really difficult to be comfortable.

By last night, they moved him out of ICU, down to the 2nd floor, they have put him back on dialysis, and removed all the restraints. He is a little loopy, but a lot more comfortable.

They are now talking about making sure that he is stable and going back to conversations of rehab- GOD IS GOOD!

The miracle of prayer is so fantastic- the power of God is beyond our comprehension. We are all resting in the knowledge that all these things - have never caught HIM by surprise.

How we could ever thank you for praying or for being there for us- I just don't know. But thank you!!!

I am blessed beyond measure, and grateful too,
Megan
